The college sleep lab contains a waiting room where patients can come to talk with the doctors and students that work there. Then in a more private section are the beds used to monitor patients with the various medical devices used to track their progress while sleeping. Finally there are offices where the data can be viewed and studied to form theories for the ongoing studies and diagnose possible problems the patients may be having.
To help alleviate part of the cost of attending medical school, Nicole is working on a sleep study in this sleep lab. Alex is taking part in this study to get extra credit so he does not fail out of his classes. As a result, they use the sleep study at times to record Alex's interaction with Dreamland and the results on his body which stays on Earth. At times while he is asleep, Dan and Nicole also use the waiting room for research since it is open all night unlike the Library.
